Overview
Process and Commercialisation Manager role in leading FMCG world renowned branded company based in Wexford town. Based it the its manufacturing and innovation facility, this role will act as a process technology, process engineering and scientific SME within the Technical Function. The successful candidate will:
- Support the pilot plant team in the development, scale-up and commercialisation of new products and processes
- Collaborate with global teams in the delivery of company system innovation and productivity projects
- Provide SME support and backup to the process team to monitor, control and troubleshoot manufacturing processes including mentoring of associates
Key Responsibilities
Main Tasks
- Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments to deliver new products and processes using lab, pilot or commercial scale equipment
- Plan and execute scale-up of new products/processes or technology transfer to commercial manufacture including validation plans to ensure safe, feasible and sustainable implementations
- Identify through the validation process and through in-process monitoring and trending, opportunities for process/productivity improvement and propose alternative processing techniques to enhance quality, yield and productivity.
- Monitor manufacturing through evaluation of laboratory results and in-process instrumentation to determine disposition of material & processes
- Ensure the correct application of laboratory methods and standards to perform visual, physical, chemical and microbiological assessment and evaluate to determine appropriate disposition of materials and processes
- Review scientific or other literature to maintain and improve specialist knowledge/skill, and identify future opportunities in technology, process or product.
- Attend relevant technology/process seminars, exhibitions, conferences as appropriate
- Drive our zero-defect culture through rigorous adherence to SOP’s, maintaining safety, GMP, and environmental standards
- Provide technical support for contingency planning and supply point shifts
- Ensure a consistently high level of communication with team, department, senior management and external parties, in particular R&D
- Work collaboratively with others to accomplish goals as part of The Coca-Cola networked operating model
- Support the Company Programmes and culture within the Company
- Safeguard and protect all Company information and property
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, Organic Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry.
- PhD level is desirable.
- Min of 5 + years work experience (including time undertaking PhD studies) operating equipment in flavour and fragrance, chemical or bio/pharmaceutical industry ideally focused on liquid/liquid operations, two phase processing, solvents and flammable liquids
- Knowledge and experience of process technologies including distillation, chromatography, membrane filtration, liquid extraction
- A strong foundation in organic chemistry including knowledge/experience in analytical methods – GC/GCMS/HPLC
- Experience of product development techniques, scale up and support of new products
- Strong experience in design, development and manipulation of pilot plant/plant equipment
- Experience of instrumentation, control and automation desirable
- Knowledge of the organic chemistry of essential oils and other flavour components
- Understanding of reaction pathways and degradation chemistry of essential oils and flavour components is desirable
- A knowledge of Quality & Food safety standards, ISO, FSSC & FDA regulations
- Knowledge of dynamic modelling / simulation for batch processes is desirable
- Ability to build and foster relationships with site and Corporate Management, R&D/Process Development SME’s, vendors and regulatory and compliance bodies
- Ability to interpret complex scientific principles, practices and processes
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
- Proficiency in written and oral communication skills; especially presentation skills
- Computer literate and ability to use technical software. A high level of data literacy and strong foundation in statistical methods is highly desirable
- Fluent written and spoken English and strong communication skills are required
