Maintenance Manager

Maintenance Manager required by large FMCG company based in Naas, Co Kildare. Reporting to the Factory Manager the overall purpose of this role is to lead a multifunctional team in overseeing all installations, repair, and upkeep of facilities & plant.

 

Responsibilities include: –

  • Drive plant efficiencies across all areas with particular focus on problem maintenance issues, as identified through our computerised maintenance system, Flex
  • Design and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods
  • Collaborate with the production team to achieve site schedules and provide engineering solutions to recurring reactive maintenance issues
  • Manage and update the Computerised Maintenance Management System
  • Diagnose breakdown problems and develop preventative maintenance programs for electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ensure constant supply of electrical services & mechanical services for the site
  • Be actively involved in any lean initiatives to improve plant efficiency
  • Manage the development and up-skilling of the site maintenance team to achieve a high-performance team and liaise with the Factory Manager on additional resourcing needs
  • Install & commission new equipment such as plant machinery, portable firefighting equipment, and fire hydrants
  • Be responsible for setting and achieving agreed maintenance budget and targets
  • Manage Maintenance PO system to include creation, approval and matching of PO’s to delivery dockets
  • Monitor and report on electricity, gas, refrigeration, water, and steam costs
  • Develop and manage good relations with critical suppliers
  • Purchase, manage and control critical and routine spare parts, supplies and equipment
  • Ensure service contracts are in place for mission critical services and machinery, and schedule their completion
  • Manage external contractors by ensuring that contractor management procedures are adhered to and that method statements have been received and by checking insurance information
  • Be responsible for meeting predefined KPI targets with respect to maintenance downtime, maintenance performance and overall equipment effectiveness and report on same as required
  • Ensure that statutory maintenance testing is carried out
  • Ensure site documentation is accurate, timely and relevant
  • Ensure timely calibration of plant equipment and instrumentation
  • Ensure that all portable firefighting equipment is inspected and certified annually by a fire protection equipment company
  • Ensure that all fire hydrants, emergency showers and any water supply that would not be used regularly is flushed out on a weekly basis for the prevention of Legionella
  • Manage the plant to maintain safety, environmental, quality and hygiene standards, and present to auditors as required

 

Skills / Qualifications/ Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a team in a similar role/environment
  • Must hold an electrical qualification with industrial experience
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in practical application
  • Project Management experience essential
  • Proven track record in team development and management essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, optimistic, can-do attitude
  • Is strategic and continuously looking for ways to improve how things are done, use of Lean tools/Methodology
  • Customer and results focused and be highly committed to providing excellent standard of service

Desirable

  • Controls, PLC, software, automated equipment experience
