Overview

Engineering Maintenance Manager in high volume production plant based in Waterford City. The overall purpose of the role:

The successful candidate will lead the maintenance and engineering function across the site, ensuring all plant equipment, utilities, and facilities are maintained safely and efficiently to support operational performance and production continuity.

What you’ll do..

  • Lead and oversee all maintenance and engineering activities across the production facility.
  • Manage the maintenance team to ensure effective execution of planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment, machinery, utilities, and infrastructure
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability
  • Coordinate and prioritise engineering support for breakdowns and production-critical issues
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures to prevent recurrence
  • Manage CMMS systems, maintenance records, work orders and ensure accurate engineering documentation
  • Ensure all statutory inspections, servicing, and engineering compliance activities are completed on time
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory and engineering consumables to support operational continuity
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors and OEM service providers on site.
  • Lead installation, commissioning, and handover of new or upgraded equipment utilising strong project management skills
  • Monitor engineering performance through data analysis, maintenance KPIs including downtime, response times, and equipment reliability
  • Ensure engineering and maintenance activities comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe systems of work including permit-to-work and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Manage team attendance, annual leave planning, shift coverage, and timekeeping to ensure adequate support across operations
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and development, and support ongoing upskilling of the engineering team
  • Work closely with Production, Technical, Quality, and Senior Management teams to support overall plant performance
  • Other duties as delegated by senior management

The Ideal candidate will have

  • Engineering qualification or trade qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering or related discipline. Automation experience advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance or engineering leadership role within FMCG, beverage, food, or manufacturing industries
  • Strong technical knowledge of high-speed production and packaging equipment
  • Proven experience managing preventative maintenance systems and engineering teams
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience managing contractors, OEMs, and engineering service providers
  • Strong understanding of engineering health & safety requirements and safe systems of work
  • Excellent team leadership, organisational, and communication skills to build a highly motivated engineering team
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and hands-on approach
