Overview
Project Engineer required for leading FMCG company based in Naas co Kildare. Reporting to the Head of Food Manufacturing, the overall purpose of this role is to be Responsible for co-ordinating engineering activities, supporting project planning and execution of all engineering projects for our FMCG multi technology business
Key Responsibilities:-

Process Design
- Work closely with the Manufacturing, R&D and Maintenance teams to design sustainable manufacturing processes aligned with future business needs
- Lead all other initiatives to expand manufacturing capability including the design and development of new manufacturing facilities to support business scalability
- Plan & execute process & equipment projects in FMCG multi technology plants, ensuring all activities designed comply with regulatory, safety and food quality standards whilst optimising efficiency and reliability within the plants
- Lead the design, specification, procurement, lead times, installation & commissioning of new equipment & production lines
- Oversee all commissioning trials and validations of all engineering initiatives
Process Optimisation
- Conduct in-depth analysis of current production processes to identify capacity constraints, inefficiencies, and bottlenecks across all technologies
- Lead initiatives to enhance plant capacity utilisation & resource reduction through process engineering and Lean Manufacturing principles
Process Documentation
- Lead the effort to document barriers to growth and operational inefficiencies within current production lines
- Develop detailed process maps and identify areas for improvement & resource reductions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions
- Provide recommendations for future capital investment needs based on identified process constraints and opportunities for growth
- Continuous Improvement
- Promote & drive the company’s continuous improvement programme by working with Operations, S&T, C&I and Maintenance to optimise workflows, utilities & process automation
- Design and implement process improvements that enhance product quality, reduce waste, reduce the reliance on natural resources and optimise yield
- Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track the impact of improvements and ensure alignment with company goals
Project Management
- Co-ordinate cross functional teams in process improvement projects from initiation through to implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to production
- Develop and manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring effective execution of engineering initiatives in line with manufacturing capability & regulatory needs
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with operations, site engineering, maintenance, S&T and R&D teams to ensure alignment in achieving the business goals
- Effectively communicate process changes, new methodologies, and best practices effectively to all levels of staff ensuring compliance with current SOP’s
- Work with the Senior Leadership Team to align process improvement strategies with broader business objectives
Training & Development
- Support the training and development on new processes, equipment, and operational procedures
Capital Expenditure
- Demonstrate financial discipline and compliance to overall Capex policy
- Manage all Engineering Project Budgets in line with approved proposals
Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in process engineering role within a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food industry
- A Third Level Qualification in an Engineering related discipline (desirable)
- Experience with automation technologies, digital manufacturing, and data-driven process optimisation is highly desirable
- In-depth knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements related to Food Safety, Customer Codes of Practice, Health & Safety, and Environmental Compliance
- Demonstrated ability to implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences
- High proficiency in collating, analysing, and presenting data to support strategic decision-making
- Ability to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change in a constructive and professional manner
