Operations Manager role in a large FMCG manufacturing business in the South East. Reporting to the MD, the overall purpose of this role is
  • Responsible and accountable for the performance of the factory against set KPI’s.
  • The role is responsible for coordinating, organising and controlling production within the factory.
  • Responsible for ensuring the factory is producing the highest quality product to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Responsible for a number of direct and indirect reports
Responsibilities include:-
  • Develop a strong People and Food safety culture; with engagement of all employees.
  • Develop and manage agreed factory plans to achieve the business objectives of the company.
  • Co-ordinate and manage production teams to work towards achieving factory goals and objectives, providing regular reports to the business.
  • Utilise the production team’s capability to effectively carry out the factory plans.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment for all employees
  • Effectively manage manpower planning in line with changing production plans and customer expectations.
  • Build effective relationships with other Senior Managers to ensure a collaborative approach to the factory.
  • Lead by example on continuous improvement in all manufacturing processes using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies & principles
  • Work with Health & Safety team to ensure the factory is fully compliant with legislation and customer expectations.
  • Provide coaching and development for key reports based on setting job specifications, individual KPI’s and periodic reviews of an individual’s objectives against actual delivered.
  • Work with Production team to ensure consistent to company policies and procedures utilising the employee handbook, legal, quality and human resource guidelines
  • Maintain quality and health and safety standards in process, people and product by example, communication and process improvement.
  • Chair the daily factory meetings with relevant Production Managers, Supervisors, Maintenance and Quality teams.
The ideal Candidate will have
  • Have a third level qualification, Degree preferable, in an applicable field of study.
  • A minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience
  • High energy and pace with a passion for Continuous Improvement.
  • Leadership skills sets must be demonstrated.
  • The Operations Manager must be an effective and excellent Coach.
  • An excellent communicator
  • Previous experience in food and beverage manufacturing is an advantage.
