Overview
Food Safety and Quality Assistant Manager required by growing FMCG company based in Co Waterford. Reporting to the Food Safety and Quality Assistant Manager, the overall purpose of the Food Safety and Quality Assistant Manager will
- Oversee all aspects of the food production operations to ensure compliance with food safety and quality regulations.
- Will have a responsibility for implementing and maintaining effective food safety and quality programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the production of safe and high-quality products.
- This position will work closely with other members of the management team to identify and resolve quality issues and continuously improve our operations.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective food safety and quality programs, policies, and procedures etc in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Oversee the entire food production process, from the inspection of incoming raw materials through to the production and final output, ensuring strict adherence to food safety and quality standards. Ensure that comprehensive assessments are conducted on all incoming raw materials before they are stored, guaranteeing compliance with established quality benchmarks.
- Perform regular inspections and internal audits of the facility to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with food safety and quality regulations.
- Develop and implement training programs for employees to ensure they are knowledgeable about food safety and quality requirements and best practices.
- Work with suppliers to ensure the quality and safety of raw materials and ingredients used in production. Actively participate in the supplier approval process, ensuring all suppliers comply with the company's food safety and quality requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to food safety and quality.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new products and processes to ensure they meet food safety and quality standards.
- Support and manage the development and maintenance of records related to food safety and quality, including HACCP plans and other documentation.
- Manage the process for product recalls and work with the management team to implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Identify issues related to food safety and quality, initiate corrective, and preventative actions (CAPA), and oversee their effective implementation to address these problems.
- Serve as a main point of contact for all customer inquiries related to food safety and quality, providing timely and accurate responses.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety and quality management, preferably in a milling environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality regulations and standards, including HACCP, GMPs, and FSMA.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with food safety and quality management systems.
