Financial Accountant

Our client based in South Tipperary, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its team. Reporting to the Finance Manager the role is central to the production of timely and accurate weekly and monthly management accounts.


Key Responsibilities include:

Financial reporting

  • Deliver in conjunction with the Finance team and Manager the timely and accurate preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual accounts and all associated working papers and reports in accordance with statutory, fiscal and legal requirements and in compliance with group guidelines.
  • Prepare account reconciliation to support the financial statements.
  • Perform variance and performance analysis to support the financial statements.
  • Validate sales rebates and charge backs.
  • Weekly management reporting.
  • In conjunction with the Finance Manager, drive the production of the weekly management accounts across all sites.
  • Audit, Revenue & Statutory Compliance.
  • Participate in the Interim and Final annual audits and all related matters.
  • Timely and accurate compliance with all Taxation and Revenue related matters.
  • All Central Statistical Office returns / enquiries.
  • Participate in the execution of Grants, Tax Credits and any other Government Agency finance related matters.


  • Troubleshoot variances to agreed targets and oversee the successful implementation of corrective measures.
  • Timely provision of financial reports to support the Sales initiative., e.g. The ownership and timely provision of product costings / quotations for the commercial team.
  • Expense Analysis.
  • Maintain clear emphasis on cost elimination to drive efficiency.


  • Support in conjunction with the Finance Manager all company departments as needed in terms of the provision of information and guidance, e.g., review and forecast reports, product costing and pricing analyses, contract reviews, margin reporting, debt management and government support initiatives.
  • Support the Sales function in terms of commercial review & budgeting plans for key strategic accounts.
  • Take positive action to maintain compliance to the Food Quality and Safety system and to drive improvements in food safety culture.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant qualification of a recognised body is required.
  • Relevant experience in similar role and a proven track record.
  • Experience of commercial and operational / manufacturing challenges.
  • Excellent systems and controls development and implementation experience.
  • A high degree of computer literacy, knowledge of standard Microsoft applications.
