DESCRIPTION
The NPD Process Technologist will report to the New Product Development Manager and works in conjunction with the New Product Development team, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the department
Responsibilities include:
- Innovation - Assist in market research on concepts, technologies, new ingredients, packaging & products aimed at strategically moving the business forwar
- Sample development - preparation and process trial
- To liaise with suppliers on sourcing ingredients, packaging and meat raw materials to meet customer briefs including compliance with company Allergen poli
- Requesting draft and final specifications and certifying compliance with our Allergen pol
- Planning and conducting trial production and ensuring all relevant departments are briefed on requirements to prove concept and production capabilitie
- Work with operations team to maximise product performance
- Maintain and update all trial and project recor
- Assist in sensory panels to assess product sample
- Communicate status of trial production sample completion to the NPD Co-ordinator to inform customers of any delay
- New Product Launches
- Assist with the introduction of new product lines, product improvements and process improveme
- Coordination of sample production for cooking validation trials, shelf life, nutrition & product photograp
- Organise, scale up and validation of pre-production runs and reporting trial results to relevant departments
- Liaising with quality and production departments in relation to new product launches
- Supporting the quality manager in completion of production specification fo
- Reporting to NPD Manager of launch progre
- Completion of product launch documentation
- Coordination of product launches on the factory floor in conjunction with the quality department
Key Experience and Skills needed:
- Hold a relevant 3rd level qualification in Food Science or related subje
- Min 3 years' experience desirable within new product developme
- Possess a good understanding of process and factory operations desirably with direct meat experience
- Excellent organisational and project management skill
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and writt
- Proficient IT skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, influence and lead teams
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance with quality standard
